Thrifty Thursdays: Warm Winter Coats Wishlist from House of Fraser

With fashion and trends moving so fast these days it doesn’t seem quite right to buy clothing at full price only to see that same item being sold for half the price about a month later, it’s kind of soul destroying especially if you haven’t had the chance to wear it and it’s still hanging in your wardrobe with the price tags on. Unless of course it’s an investment or one off piece, then I would be more than happy to pay the full asking price.

Temperatures having suddenly dropped here in the UK with evenings being as cold as four degrees, I’ve found myself in need of a warm winter coat to keep me toasty when out and about.

I looked on a few different online stores and House of Fraser seemed to be the one with the most variety, a good selection of brands and coats that actually look like they would be warm.

My main requirements are that the coat is long to keep most of my legs warm, has some kind of padding for warmth and pockets, preferably ones that can be closed.

The Explorers Coat

Phase Eight Deasia Long Diamond Puffer  RRP £189 Sale Price £139 at House of Fraser – an elegant longline coat in black with a faux fur collar and hood for them extra cold days as well as zipped pockets and I love that there’s a belt to cinch the waist in. This puffer coat will look great worn both casually or with an elegant outfit.

The Smart Work Coat

Phase Eight Kacie Funnel Neck Coat RRP £139 Sale Price £109 at House of Fraser – another elegant longline coat in a gorgeous dark blue colour with a funnel neck which means you don’t need a scarf to keep the neck area warm and it also has zipped pockets. A perfect work coat or to wear with dressed up items on an evening out.

The Dinner Coat

Phase Eight Abelie Cocoon Knit Coat RRP £110 Sale Price £75 at House of Fraser – I love a cardi, I would live in them if I could which makes me absolutely love this knit coat from Phase Eight. I’ve never bought anything from this brand before but it looks great on the model. The good thing about this style of coat is that it’s perfect for when you’re going to be in a shopping centre environment where you don’t need a big thick coat but still need something to keep you warm and covered. No pockets or fastenings to close the coat but it doesn’t need it due to the style.

The Fashionistas Coat

Yumi Oversized Faux Fur Coat RRP £80 Sale Price £56 at House of Fraser – how fabulous is this teddy bear style coat in burnt orange! If you can’t dress up and be extra during this festive season then when can you be?! I also love the fact that it has a concealed button so the coat can be closed and pockets on the side. You can’t really put valuables in the pockets but at least your hands will be nice and warm.

The Dog Walking Coat

Regatta Schima Parka RRP £100 Sale Price £50 at House of Fraser – who doesn’t love a good old parker jacket, especially when it’s cold. It’s the perfect jacket to throw on for when you need to run errands or walk the dog. This coat ticks all the boxes for practicality – it has a hood, a funnel neck, long sleeves, a decent length and deep pockets which close with poppers. What’s not to love?! It comes in a variety of different colours and will look great with a pair of wellingtons or winter walking boots. Also this brand is known for producing great outerwear pieces.

I think I’ve found some great contenders to fit a few different circumstances!
